Susan Sherr, Ph.D.

Senior Vice President - Demographic and Policy Research

Susan is a long-time Pennsylvania resident with a New York soul who will never stop missing real bagels and pizza. She loves Broadway musicals and good books more than almost anything except her family and friends and has been known to tear up with joy at a well-belted note or outstanding tap number.

Susan is a proud graduate of Brandeis University and The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Doctorate in 2000. For over 20 years, Susan has devoted her professional life to executing high-quality research in various capacities that serve the public interest. Her career has spanned academic and market research and has had a predominantly public policy focus since joining SSRS in 2008.

Susan oversees the SSRS portfolio of Health Interview Research, which entails directing teams for the UCLA California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis’ (CHIA) Massachusetts Health Insurance Survey (MHIS), the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) at the University of Minnesota’s Minnesota Health Access Survey (MNHAS), and the Oregon Health Authority’s Health Interview Survey (OHIS), as well other large-scale projects like the Annual Survey of Refugees with the Urban Institute.

When not surveying the public, Susan spends time enjoying culture, food, and nature with her husband and two children (one of whom is now an adult) and hanging out with their various pets including a dog, hamster, and two fun-loving snails.
