The greatest challenge faced by survey research today is the dramatic increase in cell-phone only households. Using dual-frame (combining cell phone and landline interviews) and address-based designs, SSRS has conducted numerous studies that overcome this challenge. We have also successfully completed projects using hybrid designs that incorporate mail, cell phone, landline phone, and internet frames.

SSRS has addressed the challenge of maximizing coverage within specific populations. From conducting dual-frame designs and address-based hybrid designs of Hispanics, African Americans, Jews, parents of young children, and young Americans, we have learned how to tailor these designs for each population. In this area and many others, SSRS continues to be on the cutting edge of survey design and methodology.
